Adapting International Social Welfare Innovations

M.C. Hokenstad and James Midgley are renowned experts in the field of international social work. Both are prolific authors who have written or co-written numerous landmark texts on the subject.

M.C. “Terry” Hokenstad, PhD, ACSW is the Ralph S. and Dorothy P. Schmitt Professor at demanded School of Applied Social Sciences, Case Western Reserve University, and Professor of International Health in the School of Medicine. Dr. Hokenstad has been a consultant and delegate to the United Nations, held numerous high level positions in the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), and been president of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

James Midgley, PhD, is the Harry and Riva Specht Professor of Public Social Services and Dean of the School of Social Welfare at the University of California at Berkeley. His most recent books include Social Policy for Development (with Anthony Hall, 2004) and The Handbook of Social Policy (with Martin Tracy and Michelle Livermore, 2000). He has also contributed to many leading social policy, social work, and development journal studies.
