Edith M. Freeman, PhD, is professor, University of Kansas
School of Social Welfare, Lawrence. She has an MSW from the University of Kansas School of
Social Welfare and a PhD from the Departments of Psychology and Human Development and
Family Life. She is the editor of Social Work in Education.
Stuart A. Kirk, DSW, is Ralph and Marjorie Crump Professor of
Social Welfare, School of Public Policy and Social Research, University of California, Los
Angeles. He has an MSW from the University of Illinois at Urbana and a DSW from the
University of California, Berkeley. He is the editor of Social Work Research.
