About the Editors
Ann C. Eller, MSW, is the Adult Prevention and Placement Services
Coordinator of the North Carolina Division of Social Services. She was coordinator in the
division for developing A Model for Excellence in Adult Services Administration and Social
Work Practice and a supporting record-keeping system, on which this book is based. She has
provided leadership in developing a family-centered approach for use by adult services
social workers in public social services agencies in North Carolina. She has extensive
experience as a social work consultant, trainer, and practitioner in the full range of
adult, family, and children's services in the division and in a local public social
services agency.
Margaret L. Morse, PhD, is the publications coordinator for Family
Forum at the School of Social Work, University of North CarolinaChapel Hill, and
since 1989 has edited, designed, and produced many of the Center for Aging Research and
Educational Services's (CARES's) contract publications for the North Carolina Divisions of
Social Services and Aging. She is a graduate of University of North CarolinaChapel
Hill's Curriculum on Comparative Literature.
Gary M. Nelson, DSW, is associate professor and director of the Family
Forum Program and CARES at the School of Social Work at the University of North
CarolinaChapel Hill. He has had a long career working with aging people, focusing on
adult services, care for aging individuals in rural areas, long-term care, and the role of
the family. He has been a member of NASW's Subcommittee on Aging and the Family and is a
fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. He is currently involved in research,
teaching, and consultation on social intervention theory and practice, public services
work force issues, long-term care, and organizational culture.
Dennis W. Streets, MPH, MAT, LNHA, is a clinical instructor at the
School of Social Work, University of North CarolinaChapel Hill and associate
director of the Family Forum Program, of which CARES is a part. Since 1978 he has worked
as a human services planner and trainer, program manager, consultant, and agency
administrator, mostly in the field of adult and aging services. He has worked with one of
North Carolina's Area Agencies on Aging; the state Division of Social Services; Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of North Carolina; and the Evergreens, a non-profit long-term-care
organization.
