Alfrieda Daly, PhD, earned her MSW and doctoral degrees at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in the joint program in social work and social sciences. She is presently on the faculty of the School of Social Work at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, where she teaches courses in social policy, management, and human behavior in the social environment. She is a member of the Task Force on Disability and Persons with Disability of the Council on Social Work Education, is a member of Catalyst’s Research Advisory Board on Women of Color, and is a consulting editor for the journal Social Work.
Dr. Daly’s interest in organizational development and change began in New York City during the 1960s, when she rose to management through the ranks of the Department of Human Services. Her experiences there shaped her desire to know and understand dynamic system processes, and she has extended that desire to the study of systems theory and its application to services delivery and organizational effectiveness, poverty and its impact on systems, and social adjustment of people living with chronic illness and disabilities.
