At last, a text addresses adult services and aging as a complete field of public social services, and does so as coherently as did Alfred Kadushin in Child Welfare. I didn't realize how badly the field needed such treatment; this work is destined to become a classic. It makes a vital and current contribution that complements the literature on the aging network.
